Even his heart is like MVP…Super ace who gave words of blessing to a special rookie of the Eagle Corps

“The award I’m holding, I want you to hold it later.”

Eric Peddie, the NC Dinos super ace this year, is an MVP at heart.

The 2023 KBO Awards Ceremony was held on July 27 at the Grand Ballroom of the Westin Chosun Hotel in Sogong, Seoul. Most of the title holders were in attendance to receive their awards.토토사이트

The player who shone the brightest was Pedi. With 20 wins (1st), 6 losses (1st), 209 strikeouts (1st), and a 2.00 ERA (1st) in 30 games this season, he accomplished a feat previously only accomplished by Sun Dong-yeol (Hattae Tigers-1986, 1989-1991), Ryu Hyun-jin (Hanwha Eagles-2006), and Yoon Seok-min (KIA Tigers-2011): the Triple Crown (1st in wins, strikeouts, and ERA).

Pedi, who also won the Defensive Player of the Year award, fought off competition from Noh Si-hwan (Hanwha Eagles), Son Asub (NC), and Hong Chang-ki (LG Twins) to take home the Most Valuable Player (MVP) honor. He won 102 out of 111 votes (91.9% of the total).

In an interview with the press after winning the award, he expressed his love for his team, the NC, and said, “I’m very happy to win the MVP award. I didn’t expect to end up like this (winning five awards, including MVP) when I came to the KBO, but I’m so honored. I’m very happy.” With a bright smile on his face, Pedi also revealed a special story about Moon Dong-ju, who won the Rookie of the Year award.

“I took a picture with him on the podium today. “Actually, when we were taking pictures earlier, I whispered to him, ‘I hope you’ll hold the award I’m holding later. He told me, ‘I’ll do my best,'” he said.

Moon is a right-handed pitcher who is arguably the future of Korean baseball. Drafted by Hanwha in the first round of the 2022 draft, he has a hard-hitting fastball that touches 160 mph and has posted a 9-11 record with a 4.09 ERA in 36 games (147.1 innings) so far this year.

This season, he’s been even better. In 23 appearances (118.2 innings), he posted an 8-8 record with a 3.72 ERA. Moon also performed well at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games and the Asian Professional Baseball Championship (APBC) 2023, leading to a favorable and generational change in the Korean national baseball team. As a result, he was honored with the once-in-a-lifetime Rookie of the Year award. It was the first time in 17 years that a Hanwha player had won the Rookie of the Year award since Ryu Hyun-jin in 2006.

This is not the first time Pedi and Moon have met at the awards ceremony. The two had previously met for dinner in August, midway through the season. During that meeting, which was organized at Moon’s request, Pedi shared many pitching tips and tricks with him. It might have been a bit awkward, but it was for the betterment of both Moon and the KBO.

Meanwhile, Moon Dong-ju, who heard Pedi’s words of encouragement, foreshadowed his future development. He said, “It will be difficult next year, but I will try to win the MVP in a few years. My goal is to be a person who keeps his promises,” he said, adding, “Even though I was a year late, I kept my promise to become the Rookie of the Year. One day, I will fulfill the MVP promise I made to Pedi,” he concluded.
