Again? Yangyang GG

Yang Ji (Doosan Bears) is a “regular” at the Golden Globe (GG) Awards. This time, he’s going for history.

Yang will attempt to win his ninth career GG at the GG Awards on Nov. 11 at the COEX Auditorium in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. If he wins his ninth GG this year, he will move into second place on the all-time list after Lee Seung-yeop (10 times – head coach of the Dusan Bears).

Yang-ji is more connected to the Golden Glove than anyone else. He is also the owner of various records. When he won the GG (catcher) award in 2020 after leading the NC Dinos to the pennant, he received 99.4 percent of the vote. He received 340 votes out of a total of 342. This is the highest percentage of votes in the history of the KBO’s GG. It broke the 18-year record of 99.3% (270 out of 272 votes) set by Ma Hae-young (then of the Samsung Lions), who hit the game-winning home run in Game 6 of the 2002 Korean Series against the LG Twins.굿모닝토토 주소

She also holds the record. To date, Yang is the only player to have won the award with two different clubs. He won the GG five times with Doosan (2006-2018, 2023) and three times with the NC Dinos (2019-22). After Yang, Kim Dong-joo (four times) with Doosan and Na Seong-beom (two times, now with the KIA Tigers) with NC are the other most decorated players.

Yang returned to his hometown team, Doosan, for 4+2 years and up to 15.2 billion won this season, and he was equally effective on offense and defense. In 129 regular-season games, Yang hit .305 with 17 home runs and 68 RBIs. He also hit .315 with runners in scoring position. Despite playing the physically demanding position of catcher, he batted fourth most often on the team.

Yang’s competitors include the LG Twins’ Park Dong-won, who hit .249 with 20 home runs and 75 RBIs, and Samsung’s Kang Min-ho, who hit .290 with 16 home runs and 77 RBIs. However, Yang is the only one of the catcher candidates to post a triple-digit batting average in a season. His on-base percentage of .474 is also the highest among the nominees. He also excels at throwing out and blocking pitches, making him the first catcher to win the new defense award. His 0.378 stolen base rate is also the best in the field.

If Yang holds GG in his arms again this year, he will surpass Kim Dong-soo (seven times) to become the first catcher to win the Golden Glove eight times. Yang won the GG as a designated hitter in 2021 and the other seven times as a catcher.

He will also be closely followed by Lee Seung-yeop, the former “National Hitter. In addition to the most GGs, Lee also holds the record for most consecutive wins (seven). Yang will attempt to win his sixth consecutive Golden Glove at the ceremony.
