Victor Osimhen, 24, who led Napoli to the Italian Serie A title in 2022-23, has been named the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Player of the Year for the first time in his career.
Osimhen was named Male Player of the Year at the 2023 CAF Awards in Marrakech, Morocco, on Wednesday (June 12), ahead of Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Ashraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain).

Osimhen earned the honor after a stellar season for his club and country.
Osimhen led Serie A with 26 goals in the 2022-23 season. With Osimhen up front and Kim Min-jae at the back, Napoli reached the top of the league for the first time in 33 years, since 1990.
Osimhen’s goal-scoring prowess was also at its peak for the Nigerian national team. Osimhen was the top scorer at the 2023 Nations Cup qualifiers, netting 10 goals to lead Nigeria to the finals.
