Daegu Senators’ Lee Ho-joon and Jang Kyung-woo win cold game
Daegu schools continue to showcase their talents at the Bonghwangdae.
On the 30th, Gyeongbuk High School defeated Gwangju Il-Go 6-4 in the round of 32 of the 51st Bonghwangdae National High School Baseball Tournament (co-hosted by The Korea Daily and the Korea Baseball Softball Association) at Shinwol Baseball Park in Seoul. Daegu Sangwon High School also advanced to the round of 16 with a sixth inning cold game win over Yale MedTech.
Kyungpook National University and Gwangju Ilgo kept the match close throughout. Kyungpook National University would take the lead, Gwangju Ilgo would counterattack, and Kyungpook National University would tie the game again. The score remained tied at 4-4 until the beginning of the ninth inning.
The game-winning run came in a dramatic moment two batters later. Jung Hee-chan singled to left, pinch-hitter Jung Jae-min singled to right, and Song Seo-bin, who pinch-hit for Park Hyun-hoo with the bases loaded, hit a two-run single to right. It was a single, clutch hit in a crucial moment that propelled Gyeongbuk State into the round of 16.
On the mound, ace Jeon Mir was absent for the youth national team, but third starter Kim Byung-jun secured the win with four and two-thirds innings of one-run ball.메이저놀이터
