“He went above and beyond”
Kia Tigers manager Kim Jong-kook applauded Choi Hyung-woo for his decisive performance.
Kia won the second game of a doubleheader against the LG Twins 12-7 on Monday, led by Choi Hyung-woo’s pinch-hit grand slam and Na Sung-beom’s two-run shot.
In the first game, they won 7-6 on a pinch-hit RBI single by Ko Jong-wook and a game-winning RBI single by Park Chan-ho. The team swept the doubleheader, knocking SSG out of fourth place.
The hero of game two was Choi Hyung-woo. Trailing 3-5 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Na Sung-beom, Socrates, and Kim Sun-bin hit back-to-back singles and pinch-hitter Ko Jong-wook singled to pull within one run. Choi Hyung-woo then pulled a fastball from LG pitcher Park Myung-geun for a home run over the right field wall.
It was the game-winning home run that made it 8-5.
Kim Jong-kook said, “The game was dragging as we gave up early runs. In the bottom of the second inning, we scored three runs to tie the game, and in the top of the fifth inning, Choi Hyung-woo hit a pinch-hit grand slam to bring the game to our side. He went above and beyond the coach’s expectations.”
“After that, Na Sung-beom’s two-run homer and Lee Chang-jin’s RBI single helped us win the game. I also want to praise Ko Jong-wook for his game-winning hit in Game 2 after Game 1. On the mound, Lim Ki-young did his job very well, pitching both games.”메이저놀이터
“It was the first doubleheader of the season, so it must have been hard for the players, but they did their best. The win was even more meaningful because it was in front of a nearly full house. Thank you to our fans for coming out and supporting us.”
