“Plutko is looking to return to the major leagues after two stellar seasons in South Korea,” John Heyman of the New York Post reported on Saturday.
Plutko, who has been with LG since the 2022 season, had a successful rookie campaign, going 15-5 with a 2.39 ERA in 28 games in his first year.
After re-signing after the season, Plutko continued to perform well this year, going 11-3 with a 2.41 ERA in 21 games. However, he was sidelined with a season-ending injury and returned to the United States early by mutual consent.
LG went into the Korean Series without Plutko, but went on to defeat the KT Wiz 4 games to 1 to win their first title in 29 years.
Upon returning to the U.S., Plutko underwent surgery and has been rehabbing with the goal of returning to the MLB.
Heyman noted Plutko’s performance in the KBO, explaining that his slider velocity has improved from 2486 to 2592 revolutions per minute.
Before coming to the LG, Plutko played five seasons in the MLB. After joining the Cleveland Indians in 2016, Plutko went 14-14 with a 5.39 ERA in 88 career appearances.
