Marcus Semien (33-Texas Rangers) was named the winner of the 2023 Heart and Hustle Award.
San Diego Padres nominee Ha-Sung Kim, 28, was not honored.
The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) announced today that Simeon has been selected as this year’s Heart and Hustle Award winner.
“The Heart and Hustle Award recognizes a player who embodies the traditions, spirit and values of baseball,” the MLBPAA said. “Simeon is a force for good in the clubhouse, on the field and in the community. In addition to his busy baseball schedule, he has been a consistent supporter of the Texas Rangers Youth Academy and donated to the youth of the Texas community.”
The Heart & Hustle Award is based on 30 “nominees,” one from each of the 30 clubs, and a final vote of 30 people.
One nominee from each organization is selected by a retired player from that organization. San Diego’s nominee was Ha-Sung Kim.굿모닝토토
The final winner is determined by the votes of both retired and active players.
Simeon batted .276 with 29 home runs and 100 RBIs this season, helping Texas win the World Series.
In addition to the Marvin Miller Award, which is voted on by the Major League Baseball Players’ Union for his many donations and good deeds, Simeon also received the Heart and Hustle Award, which is voted on by retired players.
The Marvin Miller Award is given to the player who “demonstrates the most admired leadership on the field and in the community.
